Purchasing an eye cream – The facts you need to know

Having your own business can be such an exciting, scary, nerve-racking and crazy time. There are so many ups and downs that come with the journey of having your own small business. The wins, the losses, and sometimes, the hate.

From a young age, I always knew the importance of having a great skincare routine. I loved everything makeup, learning how to apply it, knowing the best night time skincare routine…the lists go on.
I have been extremely lucky with not having deep lines & wrinkles, which I think is thanks to my parents (Maori genetics). I use our Awaken Intensive Eye Cream only occasionally, as I don’t feel the need to tend to the area as much as someone else might need to. This does also come down to nutrition, sleep, water intake etc. If you do not have a healthy lifestyle, no love for yourself or your skin, read on.

I really wanted to write this blog, to educate individuals on purchasing an eye cream and what to expect/not to expect.
As we age, our collagen levels decrease immensely due to ageing. There are many other reasons including sun exposure (and squinting), genetics, and more specifically, sleep; which is one of the main causes for under-eye fine lines/wrinkles and dark circles that tend to make us look older than we are. Resting B***H face has never looked better!

For example, if you are someone in your 20’s and wanting to start now with your skincare and preventing fine lines & wrinkles, you are certainly doing the right thing. Looking after yourself NOW, will make for a much happier you in the future…I PROMISE!
If you are someone in your 40’s-60’s, only just now starting your skincare journey, you might be in for a bit of a shock! Purchasing an eye cream, using it for 2 weeks, then stating the eye cream doesn’t work… you may want to rethink who is to blame, (need to be blunt here).
At this age, your collagen and elastin levels have decreased dramatically and you may not have any tightness around the eye area unfortunately. This isn’t to say you are doomed…it might mean you would need to look into other alternatives first, than just an eye cream.

A lot of people tend to look into hyaluronic acid fillers if your under-eye area is a bit hollow and lacking “plumpness”. Hyaluronic acid, is a natural substance present in our bodies, which keeps us nourished and hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is injected into the area to fill and lift hollows under the eyes. This also assists with darkness and smooths any lines.

Now, this is for the more serious cases, but if you are someone who has severe under-eye sagging skin, heavy puffiness, surgery might be the best way to go. Lower and even upper eyelid surgery removes excess fat and sagging skin in order to tighten and smooth the skin; these results are insane, and I have seen so many before & afters from following medical clinics online. So, if you are someone with a lot of fattiness under the eye, I have to say, NO eye cream will help with that I’m sorry.

Ok, now we’ve got that sass out of the way, lets chat about our lush Awaken Intensive Eye Cream. This product has been our best seller for a month or so now, and we aren’t surprised frankly.
This eye cream contains Cucumber Oil which assists in soothing and reducing puffiness, with Native Lemon Aspen which helps strengthen the capillary walls, to reduce the appearance of dark circles.
I will say this time and time again, you are never too old or too young to start looking after yourself.

You only have one body and you will live with it for the rest of your life.
Be good to yourself; be kind; be gentle.
